Who's Guiding Your Real Estate Investments?
Real estate should be an essential component of a balanced portfolio for any high-net-worth individual or family office. If purchased correctly and managed properly, it can be a lucrative, long-term investment vehicle upon which to preserve and build wealth. Yet, real estate investment presents a unique set of challenges which require an experienced real estate professional to guide the investor from acquisition through ownership. Common characteristics of a real estate investment include:

  • Illiquidity
  • High degree of risk
  • Significant debt
  • Substantial amount of equity
  • Leasing and management issues
  • Partner issues
  • Lack of daily market value information
  • Ownership options

As markets shift, properties age and objectives change, an experienced real estate professional becomes a crucial part of your investment advisory team that can guide you through the issues to garner desired results.

These trends continued through the first quarter of 2013; but what can we expect for the last half of the year and how should an investor take advantage of these market trends? Read More

2012 Real Estate Market Commentary
While activity increased in 2011, the markets were hardly robust as lenders tried to deal with mounting inventory of problem or maturing loans. Property fundamentals remain weak as a result of persistently high vacancies, flat rents and tenant failures. With property values in many cases still below loan balances and operating income barely sufficient to cover debt service, banks and servicers of securitized loans are having a difficult time trying to figure out how to satisfy their regulators (Banks) or Bondholders. Read More
